Help with installing a vent hood range

Hi everyone!

My wife has been redoing the kitchen. The hood range came and I noticed that the wiring the electrician put in is off to the side. This will show due to the design of the range. Can I remedy this somehow and keep it looking nice?

Also, I need to put a 6” hole in the tile to punch through for the exhaust. What’s the best way to do this?

Thanks for the help everyone. Always appreciated.

We have the exact same range hood in our kitchen, if the wire had been stubbed out of the tile more in the middle of the opening, you could have fished it down to where the base will mount to the wall. How tall are your walls? That will determine the height of the base.
I stubbed my vent down through the ceiling when we roughed in the house, it vents out through the roof.

You might be close to where it will work, my base is 36" the vent covering is 13 1/4" wide, I have approx. 11 7/16" on both sides of the vent to my cabinet

PS, that vent (If like Mine) was made for an 8' ceiling, figure all that out before you start to hang it, if you have more than 8' ceilings, your decorative stainless trim will be short if you don't raise the base......

Once you're done cutting the hole for the vent through the wall, you should be able to get the wire over there (with any luck). I can't say where the wire needs to be, but definitely not there.

You'll need to replace the tile where the wire currently protrudes. I don't think (but could be wrong) that the vent will cover it.

You should have some spare tile after cutting the hole to replace the one where the wire comes out.

Sent from my new phone. Autocorrect may have changed stuff.

I believe that hood vents up through (and also hangs from) the ceiling, why do you need to cut a 6" hole in the tile wall?

And obviously to each their own, but with cabinets on either side this style hood doesn't look right IMHO, too much "blank" space. These look best in freestanding or peninsula layouts.

Hi. Thanks for the reply and nice good! The ceiling is 8’3” and I wish the wire was more centred too.

I’m probably gonna mount it so it exhausts through the wall. Same as a roof exhaust?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I’m looking at the measurements of this all tonight. I hope it might work, but I think I have to pull out the wire, try and put a little piece of tile to plug it and make it presentable for the boss (my wife)

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes, that wire needs to be anywhere but there. I’m hoping the tile will turn out ok.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. The old range was on a different wall, and my wife picked out her hood.

Read your instructions carefully. The height your hood should be mounted will be spelled out. Mount too high and it will not draw properly. Mount too low and it will **** the heat right off the stove. Was there any provision made by the contractor for exhausting the vent hood ?

I installed mine when we built our house, about 1 1/2 years ago, I ended up mounting mine 31" above our 6 burner gas range, it had to be at this height because I have 9' ceilings and the stainless trim around the vent pipe wouldn't reach the ceiling if I had the base any lower. This thing has low, Med, High and Turbo mode on venting. I had put 2-2x8's horizontally in the wall to support mine, after I had to raise mine up because of the trim, I think I was close to the top of my 2x8. The boss is happy with the fan and her gas range that she picked out !!

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I’m concerned about the height just being right too. There was no provision for the exhaust made.

Hi and thanks for the reply. That’s a great idea with the 2x8. Much easier to work with and level vs trying to accurately drill holes in the tile.

I now realize I should have put boards in behind the drywall too.
