Help with kennedy tool box id? Any experts here?

Hey all, i bought a kennedy stack from a local pawn shop, and im trying to figure something out on it. Its a random assortment of different boxes, although they all seem to be of similar vintage. I bought it to use and not to resell, so im nnot worried about value, etc. Anyhow- my question is this- the handles on it are all a blue anodize. In all my googling ive not seen this before. Does anyone know if kennedy offered this factory, or os this something the PO did? It doesnt appear to be paint, it seems anodized. The box is the standard kennedy wrinkle brown, and the teal blue handles dont look " right" on it. If its not standard, any ideas on how to strip the blue anodize off without damaging the handles?

My factory handles are plastic, don’t know that they can be anodized. Are yours metal handles? Guessin PO at that point.

I’ve seen color 3D printed handles online, but not metal for sale. I have heard stories of machinists making them, but never seen any in real life. How do they attach?

Yes they are mostly full length aluminum handles. They attach by 2 flat head sheet metal screws.

Anodizing is fairly easy to do at home. Could be someone just wanted something different.

Almost looks like layout dye that would be laying around the shop.

I thought that too, but its def. Not. I wish it was that easy!

I wonder if the person you got them from worked at a place that does anodizing and he just wanted to make his boxes a little different from everyone else's boxes? Myself...I sort of like it.

Wow, that’s nice, but not in that color. Protective film jumped to mind here too.

I am sure you could sand it off w high grit paper, or some people say certain cleaners will remove it, but I will leave that to the experts.

You do realize that after a decade or so, the protective film solidifies into something that's as hard and well adhered as a powdercoat.

Wow. I've never seen that on a Kennedy before. Cool!

Well, if you really hate the color, you could send it out to an anodizing shop to be stripped and done in a different color.
