Help with lamp value

I work @ a car dealership and bought some light poles w/lights.
Big lights, glass is approx 12"x24" Hubble brand.
Curious if they have much value. I don't see me using them.
I'm keeping the poles.

If they are 1000 watt fixtures, strip them out & scrap them but they do look like they may be 400W fixtures, they would make great light outside a shop.

If they are scrapped maximum value will be received if all fasteners, wiring, glass, & ballast are removed making it "clean" aluminum.

Few comments, yes... they do look like 400 watt metal halide lamps but they may be sodium--the label will tell you what they are. The bulbs look like they may be at the end of their life. And, if you re-bulb them make sure you use the correct bulbs. Bulbs can be rated base up, base down, or all position. You probably need all position or perhaps base down (depends on angle once mounted.)

I'll have to open one up as I have found no model or serial# on the outside.
Nor do I see any wattage markings.

Hate to scrap them but will if nobody bites.

Nope. Either metal halide or mercury vapor.

From the age of them my strong opinion would be to scrap them.

If they were already installed I'd say replace ballast kits and lamps until the fixture falls apart. To install them new would not make sense though.

When i first moved into my house (translation, before my now wife moved in after our wedding), I hung one of these on the back of my house to light up the horshoe pits. 14 years later, sadly neither the light nor the pits remain. Nearly identical, down to the bracket. Mine was 400w MH, multi volt ballast.

My friends referred to it as "The Sun".
