I'm hoping to pick up this lathe in the next week or two, but not sure what it is just yet. The gentleman says it's a 9" Atlas, but I know that's not the case. Parts of it look like a South Bend to me but I can't figure out which model it would be. It does look to be about a 9", unless my eyes fail me and it's a 6". It would appear that some modifications have been made to the countershaft, but I'm told it runs fine.
With no quick change gear box, it will likely not supplant my Craftsman / Atlas commercial 12x36. Frankenlathe or not, for the price he's asking, I'll get it either way. But as I won't be able to put my eyes hands on it for at least a few days, I'm curious if anybody knows what lathe this is? I very much appreciate any insight y'all may have.
