Help with old compressor identification...

Hey Guys,
I need help identifying this compressor from the picture. It will be a few weeks before the guy is able to get to it again, but he said its either a Curtis or Quincy and believes it's from the 50's. He says it works perfect, and has a new 3hp motor. Fills to 175 psi.

Is there anyway to tell what this is from the pic? Idea of value?
Thoughts on picking up an older compressor like this vs, spending a few more hundred dollars and getting a new compressor that maybe isn't built as well?

Any help would be appreciated .I'll get in front of it before a potential purchase but I'd like to have my ducks in a row.

It's an old Kellogg, probably a 321. Excellent compressor if the pump isn't worn out and the tank is good.

Thanks... Assuming everything works as it should, does $500 sound about right for price?

^ ^ ^ With only 3 HP motor, that older Kellogg would not be worth $500 if it were me. What size tank is that ??

Personally, I'd think $250 would even be stretching it.

Interesting. I wish second hand compressors could be found easily in my area. The good ones at a fair price don't seem to last long.

Yes! It has twice the output of the first one and it's probably several years newer. On that first one, I wouldn't pay more than $150-200 tops for it, just because of the age alone.

The big flat box on that motor should be full of capacitors, which tells me it's a single phase motor.

Yup. Three-phase motors don't require capacitors so they won't have a big junction box like this, or they will have a tiny one to make the electrical connections in.
