Help With Pinstriping Kit

Well, Christmas is upon us I screwed up. A while back I ordered a pinstriping kit from a vendor out of state and it appears that they are not going to come through...everytime I called it was "ships tomorrow", "ships Monday" etc, I don't blame them, I think it's just that time of year.

I'm in the greater Phoenix AZ area, if any locals know where I could pick up a kit, or possibly a member out of state knows a local place in there area that would take a phone order and overnight it.

Anyway, thanks for any and all advice.

What sort of kit?

You can buy 1Shot and Mack brushes at **** Blick (if you have them in AZ). Some of the bigger art supply places carry pinstriping stuff.

Thanks for the reply Big A. What I had ordered was a kit that contained several colors, reducer, mixing cups, two brushes...etc. This was a gift for my daughter, I guess I need to call around locally and see if anyone carrys one. I also got her the books "Sundays with Von Dutch" and "Pinstripe Planet". She's an amazing artist and watched her grandfathers car get striped last week...she was all excited about that...

That's cool, how old is she? I'm just learning in my 40s, but since I have some art/painting background I'm picking it up fairly well. I need to practice more than I do.

Pinstriping and Vehicle Graphics by John Hannukkaine is a really good book for basic technique. The photos are a bit dated now, but the technique hasn't changed. There are good practice exercises and layouts too.

The HAMB has an art show every Friday with a ton of good stripers (you may know all this already), and you should check out pinheadlounge.com and sketchcult.com for ideas and to see what other people are doing. Lots of good advice out there.

Hi Big A,

My daughter is 14 going on 30...lol She has an amazing amount of artistic talent. I got hooked up with Ron Hernandez in the West Valley area. He's suppose to be one of the best in the valley. He actually did my ex-father in laws t-bucket. He has offered to give her a few lessons on some of his cars...what a deal !!! He also recommended a company in the valley..."Beaver Stripes"...lol...as a supplier...

I was able to pick up everything he mentioned, just need a few more items and a nice case to carry it all.

She'll have a good time...I hope...

thanks again for your response...

I don't pinstripe cars or even pretend to know how to but I get a catalog from Eastwood every so often. Maybe they'll have what you're after.

Darren, boiler,

Thanks for the replies. The 1shot is the paint that Hernandez suggested buying, I also picked up Mack brushes. I'll probably order additional items from Eastwood in the future.

Thanks again, now, if I could have just bought that Von Dutch box off e-bay for $270,000.00 she would be set... Yikes...
