Thinking about getting rid of this set. Craftsman ratchet, slide bar and breaker bar. Bonney with a couple of Williams sockets from 7/8" to 2-3/8" with a Craftsman set box.

What is a fair price? Please be honest.

Is there any interest on the board?

A PROTO J55104 29-pc 3/4" drive set recently sold on Ebay for $400.00 + shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164817964232
It had already been re-listed twice by the seller before somebody finally put a single bid on it the third time it had been listed.

Currently there is a WRIGHT 27-pc 3/4" drive socket set listed on Ebay for $499.00 + $36.00 shipping OBO. https://www.ebay.com/itm/224440034951
It was listed Monday April 26th.

Excluding Snap-on, those two are currently the "high end" brands, so I think it might be wishful thinking to ask more than $300 or $400 for the entire set.

However, the current "Craftsman mania" which seems to have infected the minds of many Ebay buyers might well prove me wrong.

I've been watching the prices on 3/4" drive SAE sets recently because I have a WRIGHT set I think I'd like to unload.

It depends on if you can find the right buyer, someone who won't use it on a regular basis. $100-$200 if you can get rid of it locally would be a realistic price. If you have to ship it, it may not be worth it to the buyer as a value proposition. I personally wouldn't care for a mostly Craftsman and Bonney set. If I were in the market for a 3/4 set to take to work, I am not a fan of buying defunct brands or brands with a limited or non existent distribution network. I probably be looking for a Proto set that includes a ratchet with interchangeable handles and the handles and add a high tooth count 3/4 SK ratchet on top of that. Going with Proto also increases my chances of coming across a set that was produced after the surface drive patent expired.

There is a set of 3/4" drive sockets in the classifieds here on GJ. The seller is a great guy and gives fast shipping for those looking for tools. You can get an idea of what costs are for NEW sets if that helps at all.

I'd start at $350 or $300 and be prepared to go as low as $200 if it sits.

Most of the guys I've known who actually use big stuff like that have little respect for craftsman.

I just bought a mostly Blackhawk set with Proto breaker and one Snap-On extension for $125 +$5 because I didn’t have change. It was an exceptional deal, and I might would have paid $500-$600 for it if I needed it. My old set is hodge-lodge Wright, Bonney, Snap-On, Proto, S-K, etc. I’ve got one Vlchek socket cracked. I seldom see big wrenches or sockets break. Many of mine have been ground down to fit somewhere. They are tools, I use and abuse them. Value really depends on how much the purchaser needs or wants them.

I am in agreement with 1982fxr.

This set is immediately worth half of any industrial brand purely because it is craftsman.

When you get into 3/4+ drive tools, you are no longer in the hobby realm and are usually working on large, expensive equipment or machines where downtime is expensive and tools are expected to WORK every time. Craftsman does not carry a reputation of being a professional brand that is dependable in harsh environments.

I personally would pay no more than $200 for the set. I expect it to fail at the least opportune time and I am now stuck without a dealer and have to deal with Lowe’s.

Right, wrong or indifferent, that is the reputation craftsman has with a lot of tradesman.

Yeah sorry you can probably get a bit better than a $100 but not much around me. A full range set in a metal case of SK, Armstrong, Proto 12 point chromes with an SO ratchet and various brnad extensions sold for $175 after sitting for weeks on craigslist. And personally I'm that guy who uses 3/4 and 1 sockets all day and I don't bother with 12 point or chrome, or those size ratchets. Impacts all the way

12 point chrome mongrel set, mostly middle-of-the-road brands, Craftsman ratchet...Rather have 6-point impacts, big breaker and an impact. Good for a hobbyist. So you're competing with Harbor Freight, Tractor Supply, and Tekton. And they have SHINY! tools.

As a tool kit, anyone just looking for a 3/4 set for work, I think $150-$200.

If you are looking to reach out to the collector who appreciates Craftsman, the Bonney sockets, you can get $300 or more. BUT, you will need to be patient and find someone who is willing to pay for those qualities
