I want to add air to a small work vehicle. The compressor I had in mind was something like what's used in the California Air tools line up;The electric silent type in 2hp rating. I noticed that the literature list them at a max of 125psi. Anyone here familiar w this type of compressor know if I can safely push this type of compressor to 130-135 psi? or are they regulated internally? dont know much about them just trying to put a plan together to get something put in the vehicle.

CAT sells the same motor/pump combination without a tank as a tankless setup under the model number SP- 9421-22060. In that configuration, it is advertised as 150 psi.

That said, the first treview of the tank less model on the Home Depot website, the reviewer says it arrived with a sticker on it saying 125 max. So who you gonna believe?

If you need the higher pressure but don't need the flow, harbor freight has a 1 and a 2 Gallon model that are rated at 135 psi at lower cfm. They're both smaller than the CAT.

Honestly, you don't need much more. You could probably just bump the cutout pressure on the CAT's regulator up a smidge and you'll be okay. Just check the rating on the tank to make sure you're not exceeding that.

what are you planning on powering the compressor with? why do you need 130PSI?
I was planning on using a huge pure sinewave inverter. I have a california air tools 10 gal setup and it doesnt even make it up to 125 psi so i really just wanted to crank it up. I will use impacts, air hammers, grinders, flush guns, and air up heavy duty tires.

I was going to try and get a custom tank made either in stainless or aluminum to keep weight down. I looked at an oasis brand pump but then i have to get an extra battery and just gets pricey quick…was hoping i could get away with a cat pump.

Not much room to work with… i looked for an engine driven option like whats used on diesel trucks but none are made for my application
A handful of rock bouncer dudes we roll with use the old York A/C compressors from older Volvos... You'll have to Google the exact years and models. But it's not huge. I don't know how tight your engine bay is but those things kick ****.

The inverter i was looking at wasnt too big i can always upgrade charging system if needed. Not looking to go gas.
the starting load on a motor is huge, I think it's called inrush amps and it can be very high compared to ru nning load. you might ask in the electrical forum where there's several very knowledgeable people

I believe it was double the running load if i remember correctly…which invertor was capable of but i guess ill have to buy it to find out. The other option was to run an Oasis brand pump but they are over 2k and then i still have to get all the other components
