UPDATE: Solved, below.
Please help if you can. I had bright idea to disassemble and clean my mechanical digital Starrett 216 mic, thinking the barrel just threaded off like all the others.
In hindsight, this makes no sense, as it engages internal gears.
It threaded out, counted the numbers to a whacky place, and then basically became stuck here. I can neither remove it, nor thread it back in.
I'm able to move it in slightly, which will make the numbers turn, and also pull it out slightly to put it in a sort of neutral where it spins free.
Please, anyone know how to properly re assemble. I have broken the two covers loose and looked at the internals, but went no further. I left a message for tech support at Starrett, no idea if they'll help yet.
