Help with swivel sockets

Hi all, I'm interested in buying some swivel sockets. My budget is $85, though I can stretch it a bit if the right set is more. I would really like US made, but that may not fit in my budget. I don't know if I want chrome or impact. I will probably get just metric first and then grab some standard (or not) later. Thanks!

Well like it or not I was in the same situation. To sum it up a trip to Oriellys and $49 later I walked out with a set of 3/8 drive metric 6 points swivel sockets with a lifetime warranty. I work on small engines and so far (just over a year) they are all still 100% functional. Have you checked harbor freight? Ken

What drive? 1/4 or 3/8 or 1/2"? I prefer chrome over the impacts due to the smaller size. Look on ebay for decent prices from most any US manufacturer......Snap On, Mac, Proto, SK, Bonney, Wright, NAPA, Deere, etc

Ken, thanks for the reply. I've used harbor frieght tools before and the one big difference to me is they are more crude. I haven't looked at the Taiwan offerings they may have now.

Bob15, I'll be getting 3/8 drive. The comment of chrome being thinner was also my arguement for them. I'll check eBay and see what they have. I may look at gray tools as well. Thanks!

I don't remember prices, but I have the SK 1/2" impact swivel and like them, and I have the gearwrench 3/8" chrome swivel and I like them too.

thats pretty steep for imported tools. gearwrench can be had for cheaper. even the kobalts at lowes are only 19 bucks a set.
if you are happy with them thats all that matters, but hopefully the next guy will save a few bucks
