Hi all.

Was walking yesterday in the basement laundry room and noticed the floor was damp. I wondered if the washing machine sprung a leak, looked around and found water coming in the corner.

This is a fixer upper my wife just loved that we bought recently. I will dress the slope of the water when the weather allows, but until then is there a recommendation on how to proceed?

I’ll post pics

This is where i think the water came from. It’s above the corner where I noticed the moisture, interesting enough to the side a bit. No right above it.

If you have gutters and downspouts make sure the gutters are clean and that the downspouts are directed as far from the house as possible.

u have dreaded block, water travels though it long ways too. Very hard sometimes to nail down where its getting into the block cavities. Keep towels handy and monitor all of it.

You can plug holes in hydraulic zement or polyurethane cooling for less than $20 if you see the water flowing through cracks or gaps in the basement around plumbing pipes.

Steckers operate when the problem is just a hole through which water oozes, whether from the surface or from wet soils. But the issue is ground water, so plugs do not make way when the water gets up the floor, or at a joint where floor and walls touch.

There are lots of fine block buildings. My guess is the water is pooling and flowing down to The footing .. slab.

Is that a paver landing ? off the step

Hi smithclark. I can only see the water flowing through a corner behind the furnace. It’s wet there. The rest of the basement is finished so I don’t see anything. Thankfully. I need to get that water away from the house by changing the slope. No easy way out.

Hi yeldgot. That is interlock pavers, goes around half the house. Water is pooling and going everywhere it shouldn’t.
