help with wiring baseboard heater

Hi all, i'm hoping to get some insights on how to wire a baseboard heater and external thermostat.

I have already run some 12/2 wire and will use a 20 amp 1 pole breaker to power the circuit so I just need to figure out how to wire it the heater and thermostat.

So here is the 500w 120V baseboard heater I got and the external thermostat.



Here is the wiring diagram for the thremostat. The thermostat part seems pretty straight forward and I think I understand how its wired.

Looks like black (hot) wire from the panel connects to the red wire on the thermostat, and the black wire on the thremostat then connects to the hot wire going to the baseboard heater correct?
Neutral and grounds would just be spliced (wire nut) in the box behind the thermostat.

Now Its the heater part that has me a bit perplexed. Here the pictures and the instructions:

The instructions say to open the junction box on the end and connect the wires. so on the one end the junction box on the back has an orange and red wire connected together, the junction box on the other side has red and black wires connected together with a wire nut.

The colour of the wires and vaughness of the instructions is sort of throwing me off.
Best I can figure I should leave the junction box with the orange and black wires as it is and be conncecting into the other side with the back and red wires. I'll connect The ground wire to the ground screw, of course.
The question is does my hot wire from the thermostat go to the red or black? (neutral would go to the other wire, I guess) i'm thinking, the hot wire (coming from the thermostat) might connect to the red and neutral to the black on the heater but I'm not sure.

Any advice guys?

120V, are you sure?

red and black - likely 240 volt - 2 pole breaker - and I'd run red to thermostat but would work if black.

I'm standing your shoes, I'm not sure either? Is there a customer support number in the paper work?
I see it is 120V, what throws me is the red on the heater. It's always something....

You can wire to either end of the heater, use which ever is more convenient.

Red, or black does not matter which one gets line or neutral. The thermostat should go in the hot line, not the neutral.

The tag clearly says 120v. No reason to doubt it.

Ya, the wire colours is what threw me off also, at first I thought there was a mistake and I had been given a 240v heater, but both on the box and the sticker on the heater say 120V, so I guess the manufacturer just doesn't use the standard 120V wiring colours of black, white and green(ground). And the instructions for the heater were also not the best!
