Long time lurker...helped a friend with final clean up at her parents home post the estate sale. This was all going to the trash.i just couldn't lets that happen. They may not be very useful but they sure are fun to look at and I thought this group would appreciate them. They can be my nieces and nephews problem in 20 years.

The problem most often is that the estate sale company or whoever was running it thought they had gold and tried to sell them too high. As the sale wound down, they still wouldn't relent. So at the end they still owned them. Then they get disposed of in some way.

You are a lucky fellow. Find the GJ thread on polishing up these relics. Your nieces and nephews might even appreciate these items if you do a bit of garage projects with them now!

I like that level and the yankee screwdriver. I bet the level would look great with a bit of work.

The three Porter Cable tools caught my eye; is that a 530 or a 531 reciprocating saw? I've always had a soft spot for P.C.'s worm drive reciprocating saws.

Dadtools hit the nail on the head. The people doing the sale had some crazy (high) prices on most thing. It was also surprising what sold and what didn't. ie the baby grande piano that was a no sale.

I think "not very useful " was a poor choose of words on my part. I should have said "redundant" as not only have I got more modern corded version of all these ...I've got them most in cordless versions as well.

The drill press is really nice. Been on my "want to have" list for a long time...although I've gone this long without one.

The level is also really something. It must be a good 3 pounds.

The P.C. Is a 531. The workmanship on theses old powers tools is amazing. The saber saw is Scintilla and made in Switzerland. I'd love to know the story on that.

Thanks for all the positive comments.

The Scintilla saber saw is the direct ancestor of the very long lived Bosch saber saws. I'm not sure of the exact relationship, but early Bosch tools were also marked "Scintilla".
