Oct 7 1884 is the only Tuesday in the 1880s, and I don't see it there.

Parsing out June 1897 into any Patent in June of 1897 drew 98 patents, none of which look familiar, and Jun 18, 1897 was a Sunday.

This is the only Glass related thing I saw

I'm looking here

If you put an incomplete date in the top right field, it will give you a screen when you can do a month / year search, if you decide you found different / more numbers of use.

Googling this might find it, but I'm out of time for the moment.

glass tubing cutter patent

Of course it could be European, and that's a whole new can of worms.

No, hollow tubes, cut like cannolis. ( to continue the food Analogy)

Should have said level sight glasses for tanks. The old style where it was outboard of the tank, and filled with liquid for a visible indicator.

Good work

Here is one of their patents.

And this link points to a second patent by Fowler

I used to use these for boiler condensate tanks. Typically the tubes are bought three foot long and you just cut off what you need. The glass isn't bothered by boiler compound chemicals. They do get dirty though and sometimes replacing is easier than cleaning. Here are two I have. Top one just has the two patent dates of June 7, 1892 and Oct 4, 1892. The first one is Jonathon Fowlers 476626 patent which covers the cutting end. The second patent is Arthur Chesterton patent 483778 for the rest of the design.

The other cutter I have is a Red Devil IRV N.J. #90. Cutter is similar to above. Plier grip to close. Both these are set for a 4" tube length. Typically tubes are in the 4" to 6" range.
