Hendey Lathe value

I will be selling an used HENDEY lathe model 200 for my girlfriends family. Any idea on value.? Was still being used 3 months ago. Thanks in advance. Jim

Hard to say. Depends on overall condition and whatever tooling, chucks etc, if any, that comes with it. A plus is that Hendey is well known "old iron". A minus could be its size, potentially too big for most home work shops. In my area, asking price for big old lathes is generally $1000 - $2000 but they often don't move fast. The guys over at Practical Machinist would have a better handle on demand for this.

Agreed. That type of old iron does have value, but it takes finding the "right guy" that's looking for one. Also, the bigger they are, the more it costs to move them. A potential buyer will try to offset the cost and hassle of moving it into what he's willing to pay for it.

It appears to be well taken care of and complete. Both important factors to consider. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

The lathe alone is about $600
The tooling will add value so you should get $1500 to $200 to the right guy with all the tooling.

The big minus is the size
The big plus is you have people with farm shops around you that would have the room

Thanks for the input. When I used to collect vintage fire trucks, people were always asking me -- what is this or that old fire truck worth? I would ask them What does it weigh? Its worth about 10 cents a pound!!!
