Henrob rivets

Anybody have any experience with Henrob rivets used on Freightliner trucks?

Specifically I am looking for the recommended replacement of this fastener and proper removal.

The henrob web site shows a punch out tool to remove the fastener but this appears to leave a large hole.

Any info would be appreciated.

I have the account responsibility with Henrob for Heavy Truck and Bus, including Freightliner. We are currently releasing a repair kit that facilitates installation and removal of our self piercing rivets. I'm currently traveling back from Amarillo where I just spent 3 days assisting with Cacadia and Columbia jack knife repairs. Henrob rivets are the self piercing rivets on the side of a Freightliner truck cab. These fasteners hold the skin and other structural parts together. The rivets are made from hardened steel and are unable to be drilled out. Presently we are using a cutoff wheel to grind them down and then punch out the stem. This takes a tremendous amount of time to remove.
After removal we are installing AN solid aircraft rivets. I am curious if this is an accepted repair.
Recently I have just completed installing a complete door frame and side skin on a 2008 Freightliner Columbia.

We are currently releasing a new repair kit for collision repair. Our tools traditionally have been suitable only for the OEM manufacturing environment. The Freightliner factory applications are either Robotically integrated or require heavy hydraulic tools suspended from a tool balancer. Those tools are obviously not suitable for Collision Repair work. However, we are currently releasing our new RivLite MK4 tool which is battery powered and hand held. It can be used to knock out rivets as well as install them. I just spent 3 days with a shop where they used a demo tool on two Cascaidas and a Columbia. They estimated this kit/tool will reduce the riveting issues by 2/3rds the hourly job esitmate. The kit is not inexpensive, but a medium sized body shop can justify the cost in ~6 months. I have a lot of photos and some short videos but they have not yet been packaged for the web site. I would be happy to come visit you if needed. Our office is only 1 hr or so commute to Kernersville.

So I do not understand the difference between these and Huck bolts? Im in greensboro at a truck dealership and have been around the body shop quite a bit and we use hucks.

Which shop do you work for? I am at the Penske collision center.

Huck bolts hold the back panel on a Freightliner truck. The Henrob rivets attach the lower sleeper wall skin to the underlying frame, along with most of the door frame.
You can tell a Henrob rivet if you ever try to drill it out, you can't

I have a Columbia roll over in the shop in western Australia . Would appreciate any advice on what to use in replacement of the original rivets on the interior and door frame . Have ground the rivets off and removed them , done some repairs and are now at reassembly stage . Keen to effect a quality repair.

On the front edge of the side skin I use an AN426 countersunk solid aluminum rivet, on the lower sill I have used either huck pins, AN470 solid round head rivets. The huck repair kit does not install round head rivets.

Huck pins are 3/16 diameter pins with a collar that is swaged on the back side.
