Just wondering if there is anyway to fix these ratchets with a new head kit, Mine works to tighten but loosen just spins freely. Im sure there is no way to warranty something this old. Since I do not believe the brand exists, they do look alot like armstrong though.

Not that I may have the parts for your ratchet-but post up a model with pictures of the internals and maybe someone has what you need???:dunno:

Its an M-5 Thanks for the advice on pictures will take it apart and get those up

Assuming this is the slide button shifter design, be VERY careful pulling it apart, as there is a small ball bearing that sits on a spring directly under the cover plate. This bearing and spring hold the slide shifter and pawls in place to either side in order to ratchet. Just pulling the screws and popping off the plate will often lose the ball bearing (don't ask how I know....).

That is the exact same as mine, I did notice the ball but the spring seems to be missing. The left spawl was rusted in the groove so it wouldn't engage. Fixed that by need to find a way to replace the spring. I believe is a 3/32 by 1/4". Was has always been missing a screw would be great to find 1 of those as well.

Are you sure the spring is missing? I've had to pull the handful I've cleaned up out with a pick as they tend to stay stuck down in the shifter and are good at camouflaging themselves. It's the ball that usually goes AWOL so quickly. I would say you're lucky if it's been apart before and the ball is still there, but then they went and lost a screw and the spring....
