herbrand and bonney connection?

i saw some wrenches in a pawn shop today. they herbrand full polish wrenches 1 1/4, 1 1/8, 1 1/16, 1, 7/8 and 13/16 i think. they looked just like bonney wrenches. does anyone know if there is a connection? i can still get them for myself or someone else if they think there is a connection.

By the 1960s the increasing competition in the tool industry had made it difficult to remain independent, and in 1961 Herbrand was acquired by the Kelsey-Hayes Corporation, an industrial manufacturer. Kelsey-Hayes had previously acquired Utica Tools in 1956, and Herbrand became part of their Utica Tools Division. The parent company built a huge new factory in Spartanburg, South Carolina for the combined Utica-Herbrand manufacturing operations, and by 1962 Utica and Herbrand had relocated to Spartanburg. A further acquisition in 1964 added Bonney Forge and Tool to the Utica Tools Division.

thanks packard, should i pick them up or what? do you think they could be bonney made or am i dreaming. some were quite nice and some were kind of hailed. i think i could catch them for 50 or less. not cheap but not easy to find either.

Only if you need them. A Herbrand even if it is exactly the same wrench doesn't have the same following as if it said Bonney.

well i picked them up. the previous owner was definately not a tool polisher so a healthy dose of evaporust, steel wool and the dreaded wire wheel were needed. with the wrenches i have coming from mopar i will have all the sizes up to 1 1/4 in bonney made wrenches, 3/8 - 3/4 matco and a mix of bonney and herbrand up to 1 1/4. the last two pics show the family resemblance between the 13/16 herbrand the 19mm bonney and the 3/4 matco.
