Herbrand Tool Box

I recently inherited my grandfathers tool box. I'm looking at restoring it. I'm also trying to see when it was made. It has the script "Herbrand" (looks like it should be on the front of a baseball uniform). I'm also trying to see what the original color would have been.

Greatly appreciate any suggestions or help!

The box isn't in as bad as shape as it looks. It's solid and all of the hardware is good. Just needs a lot of work.
