I figured it was RLL with a stutter. If you don't already know, RLL is Red Lube of Love, Permatex assembly lube.
Like this:

Save up for some dual 80 ratchets. Other than that I always thought c-man had some good wrenches and sockets. Just the ratchets kinda have slack in them. Pisses you off when you are working in a tight spot.
Why didn't you get those $9.99 c-man screwdrivers and pliers?

yes..LUBE ratcehts. they aint horrid...but they aint the best. they will work fine. i myself use duralast ratchets, same design as the snap ons...lot cheaper. and i like them better then the cmans. my first tool set was a 115 piece stanley i got for like 45 bucks at walmart. hasent let me down yet...its in the trunk of my stang. so u got a pretty decent set compared to what some have started with.

Thats a nice start. As the others have said lube the ratchets and they will be better. I use my raised panel C-man ratchets quite a bit. If I were you I would replace the 1/4" ratchet first. Just watch here and craigslist for a good deal on an older ratchet. The 36 tooth SO ratchet is a fair step up from the C-man but can be had for a fair price.
^^^I already have enough screwdrivers and a small collection of Vise Grips and Channelocks. Most are some old Stanleys with some Cman mixed in. I figured a screwdriver is a screwdriver, and you can't really improve on it much. I already dented my wallet, and I couldn't justify spending the extra cash.
For some reason, there isn't an 11 mm deep socket in 3/8 drive. I don't know about you guys, but I use 11 mm deep sockets on diesels, so I was wondering why it wouldn't be included?
The wrenches I think I'm gonna get to when I cross that bridge. If I need a 23 mm I'll get a 21 and 22 also, same goes for SAE.

Just use the 7/16 its the same size or at least so close you will never notice the difference.
My guess would be Sears saved $1.20 on each set because most people use a 7/16 and 11mm interchangeably
I do have SOME, they're pretty crappy, but they get the job done I guess.

So that makes 3 drummers in this Thread so far...
They range from 10 year old to new Vise Grips, others are recently new Channelocks, and some Ace Taiwan ****. Not too much, but enough to get the job done when I need to.

I like those custom fit trays, someone needs to come up with a reasonably priced way of making custom holders for tool sets. I've been to trade shows were they fast prototype a plastic item in minutes, I need one of those machines.

Not so quick tossing the ratchets, get some permatex synthetic green grease, and some snapring pliers, take the snap ring out, and the cover, and lube liberally, it does wonders for the Cman ratchets. You can pull the gear out without disturbing the pawl when they are new. Coat the gear liberally.
Geez. I think my first tool set was about $10 and didn't even have a ratchet. This was back when all I worked on was RC cars, and usually just with the tools they came with. The set would fit in one hand and had a bit driver, needle nose pliers, tweezers, wire cutters, some small screwdrivers, and a few bits. That was about 12 years ago. And I still do have it and use parts of it from time to time.

Alright Taftw good score but lets ramp it up. Lets not be rational now, lets make the wife or girlfriend think you love tools more than her.
And the addiction starts. congrats!! About 90%+ of my hand tools are craftsman. I do have a few Snap On tools , but not much. I started filling in the missing sockets that aren't in the sets that Sears sell. Currently on the hunt for a 12 point 1 3/16" deep well craftsman socket. Can't seem to find them in any stores.
When you get a chance, get the Permatex green synthetic grease, it works better than the red lube, not as much ooze.
where would you buy this exactly? any online retailers sell it?
Vince, I seem to recall at least onbe guy on here saying it does not work as well.
If I can find some locally I will snag it and see how it does.
It may not be the best choice for fine tooth ratchets, but is works WONDERS in the lowly Craftsman ratchets smooooooooooooooth! LOL You can buy 99 cent packets at Advanced Auto at the counter if you want to try it out. The large brush in bottle is like 17 to 23 bucks.
Well, even the red stuff does not work as well on the real fine tooth rats...it's better in coarse or "medium" models.
On Cman ratchets I usually need to stretch the pawl spring, I put some green permatex in the hole, put the spring and grease coated ball in the hole, with the selector already in place, then put the pawl in, and liberally green lube the gear and pawl face. Alot of Cman ratchets have weak pawl springs and they change direction too easy, the above seems to remedy that, they feel pretty good after dressing.

I may be wrong but the 11mm is rarely used. That is one size that I do not keep any singles in for warranty purposes.

Yah I never have used a 11mm socket ot wrench
Westerbeke exhaust manifold t-bolt clamp nut.
I believe 11mm is really close to 7/16, however.
