Flooring is a PolyUrea/blend; I wanted REALLY clean (when it's clean) and easy to spot a dropped bolt.

(I snuck a pic of the garage floor this morning to share with y'all)

tempImage6xUyzT.jpgI'll be working on my old (and new) cars and motorcycles and I also build furniture for my profession, as well as tattoo machines. So a lot of small scale metal fab. And every few years I get a wild hair to build a custom motorcycle.

As of today, im waiting for the last 12-24 hours of curing... I want it super cured before I start rolling my toolbox around on it.

I really want the shop space to be nice. I plan on being here (hopefully) 10 years or so, so I want to do top-shelf work. Which, in reality, requires more contractors than I would like. there are some things I can do and its the best that can be done, but some things, I could do the best I can and it still wouldn't be great.

Speaking of which, any of you locals got spray foam recs!?

three.

it was supposed to be one coat one day, then the next the next day. but mother nature intervened and it became 2nd and 3rd after sanding again 3 days after the first. It is not flawless, but its nicer than ive ever had!

Additionally, I had the garage floor done the same time as the shop. I swapped out the single lightbulb for a 8K LED and put the cove base in and sealed the outside of the garage door.tempImage4egwuK.jpgtempImageWaS6Es.jpg

Now im going to have to paint beyond the door to match up. It'll get some cabinets and such once im done moving.

Is that whole floor stepped down? I've seen where the front has a step maybe for a landing. I could see myself tripping all over the place with the curb all around.

In a condo that my wife had before we got married, I painted the step-up at the back with safety yellow to differentiate it.

Looks nice though.

I'm still a little mystified how you get the walls so dirty so high up! 😆

Seriously, looks like you'll be in a better place once you get it all done. Not too bad to start off with, not to mention location!
Diesel smoke in the case of my shop, I’m pretty sure.

And it doesn’t wash off.

yeah, I have no idea why the PO did that- its considerably higher than the grade and it hasn't settled in a way that would drain in. (the dirt in North Texas is only good for a square and plumb foundation for 10-20 years at best) So who knows!

So far- I have called 4 spray foam companies here East of DFW with no response. I wanted a lot less of this space to be DIY than my last, but it's looking like there's going to be a lot of early mornings and late nights in the foreseeable future. It's compounded because I don't really have a lot of friends/family to help in the area.
That being said, any of you locals know someone reliable that wants to work that can install ceiling and or spray foam walls/roof?

Progress so far. Next week I’ll get to doing the wall on the left so I can get electrical in, or at least outlets and lights.

Buying materials as I go, so it doesn’t hurt as much all at once. Rigid foam on the bottom 8 ft and if I can’t get a spray foam guy for the ceiling, then it’ll go up top too.

The snow/ice was real tough to work in, but what doesn’t k*ll ya; blah blah…

Good news and bad news.
I got the old shop cleaned out for the new owners, but that means all my **** is crammed into the new shop.
Hopefully I can get some days putting up more wall covering and conduit so I can start putting things where they live.

Since this is turning into a build thread, I will be moving it to the more appropriate Garage Gallery section.

Keep up the good work, it's looking nice.
