Here we go... new garage attempt

[sorry for huge images, though the photo hosting would reduce the size, but I guess not :headscrat]

new place is going to need a serious garage upgrade. It has a 40 year old two car that would be very tight. My background is machine design, so this is all new working with construction, gonna learn as I go and read as much as I can here.

IMHO, I'd go with idea#1 - keep the larger area of yard availiable for kids/ pets / etc will be better for resale of the house even if you don't care about that now - plus it's closer to the driveway.

Have you talked to your neighbor(s) about garage 2? That is pretty close to the property lines back there. If you plan on doing a lot of work late at night that is something to think about.

Any local easements or right of ways?


I like the idea of the shop being off the road. Option 2 gives you plenty of room to plant some trees along the road to block prying eyes.


The other issue that comes to mind is, what are your plans for the house and current garage? Does one of those options limit what you would be able to do to the house/garage in the future?
