Im the newest new guy. Long story short, tired of having small carport. Nowhere to work, nowhere to store things. Been wanting a garage for years. Wife got a new jeep for B-Day, now "We really need somewhere to park" boy did she screw up. HAHAHAHA. Was going to be 40 x 40, thanks to the second oldest Oak tree in town, which you can see in the left of the pic, it is now going to be 38 x 40. Stupid roots. Any ways here are the first shots, after the carport was tore down. Forgot to take some before it was tore down. The plan is 16 x 38 with 14ft ceilings for the lift and service area. 24 x 38 with 10ft ceilings for parking and work area and atv storage. Im sure plans will change some what but that is the idea for now. On to the photos. nothing special just an idea of what Im working with.

This is my first project this big, I helped my dad when I was about 10-12, pour his driveway and build his garage. Here is my question. When we did his 25yrs ago, we used chat, which is not as fine as sand for those asking what chat is, for fill to level out before pouring. It compacts really well and I can get as much as want for free. I live in the Leadbelt of Missouri, so this is the after product of the lead mines that are underneath all the surrounding towns. I think it will be fine for my base. Anyone have any thoughts other wise.
