Hi Folks:
Just wanted to start a thread acknowledging what I found to be an excellent repair shop and thought others may want to share info about shops they have found.
Best Battery Co. is on the East side of Baltimore, MD. They supply batteries throughout the region. They also have a shop that does automotive electrical. It was the only shop I found within a 40 mile area that would rebuild the generator on my 1982 HD XLH. I bought the bike non-running and rebuilt it, it hadn't been started in five years. It ran nicely when I started it two weeks ago but had a whining sound from the generator. I thought maybe the bearings were bad. Best not only found the need for new bearings, brushes and leads but also that bees had built a nest in the old generator. Bottom line was a rebuild w/ new parts as listed above and they cleaned up the generator making it look like new, all with friendly three day service and best of all it only cost $45. I think that's unheard of and deserves recognition. Here's a photo of half their electrical shop if you like looking at shops.
