Here's my shop in progress. Not as nice as most of yours but is is nicer than anything I've ever had in the past. Roughly 1200 sq ft heated and cooled by a single big window unit, 15000 BTU. Messy and no where near all of my stuff is in it right now, but have a start moving from my old shop to my new one. Hope the pics come out OK

Yep, 71BGT. Have a 72B as well, awaiting restro. Both cars went under flood water in 2001 and are in the process of being reworked. The small door by my desk leads to a half-bath as well. Love the metal cabinents and stainless sink and tops. Both were free for the taking. The cab fronts and lathe cab need to be repainted but that's low on my priority list. Also have a Lincoln IdealArc 250 welding machine, a bench drillpress, pedistal grinders, two 4X4 fab tables, two blast cabinents and two 5hp 80 gal compressors that have to come home. Don't know where I'm going to put it all!

Nice place, the new garage is Gerry! I may have to drop by & visit once you're settled in.

Tony, I'll be offended if you don't drop in the next time you're within 100 miles! You and Jerri are always welcome!

gmasterman,

Nice shop man. I just finished the drying in of mine, 30X40. I'm trying to find out about btus and such right now. My shop is also in louisiana....youngsville, just south of lafayette. My questions are the following...
1. how well does the 15000 btu ac handle the heat??
2. Do you run the ac 24/7, or just when you need it....and if so, how long does it take before the temp is bearable?
3. is the shop insulated??

Thanks man,
Scott.

By the way, what part of louisiana you in??

I normally keep the doors closed between the machine tool part and the gararge. If I am working in the gararge, I leave the doors open. I need to add a better means of circulating the air between the two but over all it makes things comfortable to work in the gararge if I leave the the two gararge doors closed. Both areas are insulated and the attic above has a vent ridge. My A/C runs all the time and it stays cold enough in the machine shop that my glasses fog up when I walk outside. A/C unit is on Low cool and the fan cycles with the compressor. Lights stay on all the time as well, because if I turn them off when I leave at night, they will not light up the next morning, I suspect from the low temp. guess I need to change them out with the other style flourencents. Electric bill for house and shop is usually just over $200 a month. That's heating and cooling over 4000 sqft. Nothing to brag about but I can live with that
