How about an air powered bench grinder? :)

Why? For explosion-proofing, of course. You can't have that electric motor making any sparks now, can ya?

It's not mine, but I would assume that, like every other air motor out there, the RPM depends directly on the input pressure.

The antispark thing was a joke- I have no idea why somebody made this. Maybe it's from an Amish workshop? :)

Mining industry perhaps? Heck, they had compressed air powered locomotives, so this wouldn't be a stretch.
