"If you are a mechanic then you know what these are worth. $8000.00 is a steal. All must go so there will be no parting out.........Help keep these tools in service....Make me an offer."

I'm not a mechanic, yet I know they are not worth anything near $8K
$8000 is a steal? Seriously, I wonder if they typed that with a straight face.
I wonder if the PO was in aviation maintenance or the like.

I wouldn't call it rusted junk, there looks to be some good stuff in there, but $8K is just, ignorant or fishing. Eh, every craigslist has their dreamers. I see some good deals on there as well.

It's the way it is with anything these days...people want gold plated prices for their old beat up junk yet if you're selling something for a reasonable price these same people will make a rediculously lowball offer.

Back when I was shopping for an engine driven welder I would find similar ads all day long on CL here...it would be for a 5-10 y.o. basic 225-250amp engine driven stick welder for either new cost or $1000-2000 above new cost...Miller and Lincoln will both sell you a new 225 Bobcat or Ranger for around the $3200 mark all day long...yet these crack smoking cats wanted $3500-5000 for a beat up old welder.

I'd say a realistic price would be $200. Maybe worth $300, but not in today's economy. And if nothing was rusty -- maybe $350 tops.

Yes.... We are mechanics and we know what they are worth, that's why a true mechanic would never respond to this... Unreal...

Even if you bought the equivalent of what's in this ad from Snap-On, brand new, it wouldn't cost 8k. It might not even be 3k.

I don't see why you're all down on these vintage tools with the awesome patina. He just didn't describe them correctly. With the right wording they are worth twice that.

I know that pain! The cheapest roll cab I've seen from ANY truck brand that I've EVER seen on my local CL was $1500. But, yeah...guys on here always talking about snatching up boxes for a few hundred. Truck brand service carts are more than that here.
