I’m looking for some information on this ratchet and socket set I got in a recent tool haul. The case, ratchet and sockets are stamped Hermès and Germany. The socket chrome looks decent the ratchet chrome while complete isn’t the finest. I tried googling the brand and couldn’t come up with anything. I’m also not super familiar with the ratchet internals. It’s a fine tooth design around 70-72 teeth. While fine toothed it’s still a little sloppy in the backdrag and the angle to reengage the teeth. Th sockets themselves are 6 point and strangely not drilled all the way through. Is anyone familiar with this set or who was OEM for these ratchets. Also by the mediocre finish I’d guess it’s not particularly collectible or expensive but if anyone knows a round about price that’d be nice too.

The ratchet looks a hell of a lot like the older Facom ratchets, but Facom items were usually made in France or sometimes Italy. Maybe check in the “Tools from the Old World” thread. There are some German tool manufacturers whi produce a lot of OEM tools. The handle seems similar to something I have that came in a Rothenberger kit, but I’m certain someone else manufactured that for Rothenberger. I can’t remember who at the moment.

Looks kinda like this Snap on ratchet. Can't recall the company they bought.

Looks alot like that
Never heard of snap on eurotools

Snap-On’s European division purchased a number of different companies so it gets hard to track, but I believe the major German divisions were aquired with the purchase of Bahco, which was what became of Sandvik’s hand tool manufacturing section. The German manufacturers that were part of Bahco were Belzer, and Dowidat. Belzer had been around for a long time. Dowidat was founded by one of the members of the family that owns the ‘Gedore’ brand but Snap-On has since sold the brand name back to the iriginal family. Snap-On Europe also owns the Spanish brands Irimo, and I think Palmera and Acesa although I don’t see them listed on the Snap-On website.

Maybe thinking of Acesa?

Alot of the Euro ratchets look so similar, between the head, the grip. It does look similar to some Facom too.

The thing that bothers me is all the muddling of import **** that is made to look like original Euro tools. They try and make them as close as possible. I know, it shouldn’t be of my concern but whatever.

Tons of good info here for me to keep digging. I’ll update if I can figure out more. The sockets seem nicer than ratchet in fit and finish. But I really like the little set.

It looks like the OP didn't figure it out, or if he did he forgot to tell us.
My venture down the "Hermes" rabbit hole has landed me back at square one - GarageJournal.com again.
I would abandon the search and move on to Lumen or Müllner or Rotfuß or Schm'ole or any number of other German names of obscure tool manufacturers I can neither spell or pronounce, but I am taking the opportunity of posting these lovely photographs of this delightful "Hermes" reversible ratcheting socket wrench set, if only to point out that given the opportunity and means, men will invent ways to attach sockets onto drive tools in ways you never before thought possible.

(* note last photo shows stamp "West Germany".)
