Hex Bit Set

Hey guys, new to the forum here. So I have been looking for an sae and metric hex set (pref. long) 3/8 drive. An older guy I work with has an old mac set, long, sae and metric 3/8 (think its from 4-10mm and not sure which sae sizes). Does anyone know that mac part number or where I can get a decent set like this? I wanted to get the same set he has, but we dont have a mac rep in our area and I havent been able to find anything similar from matco or cornwell. Any ideas guys?

if you want a tool truck brand snap on has long hex bits in 3/8 drive. Also armstrong has them as well.

This is the set I have. Your Matco guy should have it in stock on his truck or they usually sell for under $125 used on Ebay.

The long ones are 1/4 - 3/8 and 4 - 10mm (I think, it's at work)

Wright also make a great set - I have used them pretty hard for about a year and they still look hardly worn. They are cheaper than the tool truck brands.

I wasn't looking for the ball end, and I saw that silver eagle set last week but the tag was a little higher than what I wanted to add to my account since its already high..thats why im trying to buy off this forum or ebay

I've had these (and the short versions) for about a year now, and i work on cars on average 3-4 days a week. They probably won't last forever, but they've been just fine so far. Well worth the price, but if you're looking for a lifetime-lasting pro-level too, might want to look at some of the more expensive options elsewhere.

I use them regularly for my side small engine business, even ran em on my 3/8 air impact.

I have the short SAE and metric sets, along with the longer metric set.

I might give those HF ones a try until I can find that Mac Set, what I really like about the set my co-worker has is ther almost a mid length, most long hex are like 5'' shanks, these are probably 2.5'' shanks, just the perfect length for the things I run into all the time

If I'm on a budget and want tool truck is get a Cornwell set. Which I have...

If money is no object, I like Snap-on.

I got this master set for $250. Plus a $70 5-point star set, and a jacket for free.

Sometimes you need long ones but there are downsides:
7mm flexes too much when tightening front struts (Volvo S70, BMW e46) and I need std or stubby when doing the e46 brake pads. I just changed the strut mounts on the Volvo tonight in fact and the SO is very long and it flexed more than I would have liked, went back to the stubby (inside a large 22mm gear wrench socket, the through hole type, perfect for strut bolts).
