These new Mac sockets appear to have a drive profile built into them. :headscrat

Or Am I seeing a reflection or something? :dunno:

They are the "Precision Torque" sockets. I have them in chrome & impact rated.

I will have a video coming out on them at some point soon....they will grip onto a damaged fastener that is 85% rounded off & still remove it.

Are you referring to the wriggly bits on what should be the flat part? I'm pretty sure mac have had that on their sockets and some spanners for the last nine or ten years.

They used to be called Mac Edge, the ribs were in the center of the flat.

Looks like a new design and new name.

They will remove rounded fasteners but they will also mar the finish of fasteners. I grabbed my 19mm and used it on my powder coated lug nuts :lol_hitti. Hope to avoid that mistake again

I have the Mac Edge versions, have not tried the precision torque.

Pros:
- They are fantastic for gripping bolts, and do exactly as described.
- Havent broken a socket since getting them in 2010 and I use them hard daily in a HD shop. I use my impact on the 3/8 chromies without issue. Alot of times with 1/2 gun and reducer.
- The chrome sockets have a nice finish, easy to identify with how the socket is designed (exp. 10mm is sized different than 11mm, 14 is different than 13 etc..)
- Good value for a truck brand socket set. Come in larger sets too then SO or regular Mac USA.

Cons:
- Rusted fasteners get stuck easier, so more time banging the socket on the ground or using a punch to get them out... happens alot with normal sockets anyway.
- impact sockets its hard to read the sizing on them.
- 1/2 impact sockets feel weird and look weird... not sure why lol traded them back in for a set of the normal Mac USA ones which are fantastic.
