Hey, just found this site via a link from tractorbynet.

I'm in the process of looking for plans for a woodworking shop/garage so figured I'd dig around here for some ideas. My usage will not be car related. I need more of a 1.5story barn structure for a wood shop on the first floor, office/storage in the loft and if the grade works out, then some open storage from the rear for the kubota, skiff, and various yard stuff.

Finding plans for this sort of thing is a challenge. Most searches turn up way too many links, most not useful.

well... hey all.

Welcome to a great board. What part of the state are you in?

I'm not sure what kind of barn you are looking for, but check out the gallery at Geobarns.com and see if you like them. George Abetti, the owner, builds in MA.

Bull, I'm on the Cape. Bourne to be exact. I've seen these barns and love them. But compared to stick built I think they're fairly pricey. If I could do anything, I'd go post & beam, real old barn style. But not sure that makes the most sense for insulation, and running electrical, air etc.

What do you use your barn for and how is it layed out? I'd like to get some real world $ info etc if you're open to it.

thanks

Hi Tom,

I spent about mid $30s for the barn...excavation and concrete not included. It's 24x32, full upstairs, oversized cupola so I can sit up there, and an 8' cantilevered overhang on the north side of the building.

My barn actually cost quite a bit less than the quotes I had for stick built and vinyl sided, which would not look anywhere near as good to my eye.

Hi Bull,

How much did it run you for excavation and slab?

What did you finally end up doing electrically? How did you run wiring?

Geobarns are something very special and I really appreciate the design. We are really looking forward to meeting with george.

Thanks

Jeff
