Just introducing myself here, my name is Greg. I'm out on the Island in New York. Been lurking for a while now and finally decided to join up. Great forum here, lots of stuff to look at and be inspired by! Looking forward to contributing.

Though I've only been doing it for a little while, I am an auto tech by trade. Switched careers in my late 30's (was a printer for 15 years) because the only thing I was ever happy doing was working on cars. Went to tech school and learned a little but really learned the ropes while on the job at a dealer. Right now I'm kinda in between a C and a B - can do some complicated stuff but not quick enough to beat the clock every time. Still learning as I go but I love it and wouldn't change a thing.

I am also a life long Mopar guy. The Dart in the pics is a '71. It's an original 318 car that I am turning into a street machine. It will likely get one of the 340s I have with a small solid cam, a built 904/999 trans. and my aluminum center 4.10-geared 8 3/4. Looking for low 12s.

Anyway, I have this small semi-attached 2 car garage I've been trying to upgrade for a while now and it's finally starting to come together. Here's some before and after pics - first few are from when we (wife and son) moved in just about 2 years ago from Brooklyn. Last two are what it looks like today. Lighting was done last year when we had a new electrical panel put in. New windows were installed this summer. I did the drywall throughout the fall and am almost finished with the paint.

Not much to look at right now. Needs one more coat of paint on the walls, re-install some of the hanging lights, finish the floor and build a bench. It's been real cold though so I have not been out much recently. Can't wait to get it done. Never had my own place before, I am stoked to have a properly lit and decently equipped shop to do my stuff.

Cheers!

Hey rmchrgr, my first car was a 71 Dodge Dart with the 225 slant six. Unfortunately it was butterscotch orange. I had big dreams of putting a 318 or 340 in it but it just never happened. Keep up the good work with the garage and the car.

Great start! You gonna insulate/finish ceiling?

Not sure what to do about that! Was looking at options and definitely do not want to do more drywall. Maybe corrugated? Would love some suggestions. The bottom chords are sagging pretty bad, not sure if I want to get involved with it too much.

Thanks everyone for all the compliments on the car. Its pretty clean but nuthin special just yet. Had to make myself a place to work on the damn thing first.

Reminds of my old 72 Dart ******* with a 318. Does "out on the island" mean you are a car guy and not a cab riding Yankee?

Yes. Was a car guy stuck in a city where a large percentage of the population does not drive. Sucked. Was my main reason for moving out, couldn't take it any more. Don't tell my wife that though.

Welcome.

(Not to get off on the wrong foot, but there is a "Introduce your self here!" thread , that is the FIRST thing on the page. They put Bold letters, an explanation point and everything, you should have used it)
