Hey all, OBD Scanner inquiry (NY)

Hey all, looking to purchase an OBD scanner that operates via wifi or bluetooth and connects with an app on your phone. I don't need anything to expensive but not sure whats appropriate to begin with. Currently looking at the iSaddle or Veepeak OBD bluetooth/wifi scanner with the Dash Command app for iPhones.

Does anyone have an opinion on type of OBD wireless/bluetooth scanner??

Also does anyone know if the apps inform users of what the codes mean??

iPhone won't work with a Bluetooth. Got to use wifi.

Big: interesting question for Garage Journal much less the introduction thread. not sure how many techies we have here, but i bet if you find threads talking about this issue and ask a question there if you don't find the answer i bet you'd have a better chance if it's possible.

Torque (free) or Torque+ ($$) for Andoid and pretty much any cheap Bluetooth ELM32 dongle you can find on eBay. iPhones will only work with WiFi dongles.

Closest you can get to a "professional" tool is Blue Driver. Not cheap, but cheaper and does more than a lot of other scan tools.

theres a dozen threads on here about the ELM327. cheap as can be on amazon or ebay. as stated, you need the wifi version for iphone, not Bluetooth. for a couple bucks more, there is a version of the elm327 that has a usb cable for use with a laptop and much more sophisticated software if you go that route.
