A close friend of the family is cleaning out her fathers gagarge who passed this summer and came across this wooden thing. Any body have any idea what it is ???

Looks like a wooden clamp

I believe that it is a saddlers clamp or sometimes called a harness clamp. It is for holding two or more pieces of leather together so you can stitch them. The piece sticking out in the middle should rotate and force the jaws apart, insert the work piece and then let the jaws go back together.

Yep. Leather workers vice. Dad had 3-4 of them. Never could figure out another good use for them. Gave them to a saddlery after he passed. Keith
