i have a 24x24 poured slab garage with no drains
i was laying down there the other day to yank a trans
and i froze my *** off (i live in wisconsin)

i know that concrete floors also do very little to insulate so i am curious about maybe what kind of tile i could run there that wont cost an arm and a leg and will give me comfort, some sort of thermal barrier, and i can jack a car up and put jackstands on without muffing them up badly

anything that will fit what im looking for or am i chasing a unicorn here?

thanks guys
Kjell

Our floors are known to offer a very good insulating factor as well as keeping you up and away from fluids being drained or spilled

I'm interested in this too.

RaceDeck1 - Thank you for answering the comfort and thermal barrier questions. What about the "jack a car up and put jackstands on without muffing them up badly" part?

Good Flooring choice is a Norsk flexible PVC floor. They are 18 x 18" tiles that are 0.25" thick and are more rubber like. Where as a Polypropylene tile floor will make a hollow sound when you walk on them. Both are strong.

RaceDeck will hold up 50,000 lb rolling loads. As for Jack Stands you should be fine for the loads on each. If you are using the cheaper thin angle iron ( like this on the leg bottoms < ) they will act like a cookie cutter, all you need to do is put a small flat pad under the legs ( like a wood or metal square.)

As for sound - Really not an issue for 99.9% of the RaceDeck customers, as all floors have their own unique sound. We also have a system that we call Shock Towers that act as a anti-fatigue as well as sound dampener - or just use cheap landscape felt. The customers who go this route generally only use with solid top RaceDeck and for workstation area or a walking path.

I would not recommend PVC flooring in the garage for two reasons - There are severe expansion and contraction issues and under heavy loads they will bunch up ( buckle). Secondly PVC ( Poly Vinyl Chloride ) is not the most eco friendly product to have in your home stewing in the garage. For the record, we manufacture PVC tiles for various commercial applications but would never recommend or market for the garage enviroment.
