I got all my slatwall at menards believe it or not.

They have a small, stupid display kinda hidden in the paint department.

They carry a ton of colors too. Its all special order but I think it was worth it.

It only cost I believe $65.00 a board (4'x8')

The finish on it is really nice. Kinda like a kitchen laminate countertop. Its very durable and so far its held up great. Its all loaded up now with tools and garage thingees.

I had to stop on this project until early spring.

Only thing Ive done that isnt in this thread is apply the countertop finishing tops. And thats an entire thread all on its own.

Awesome work, just got done viewing and reading this entire thread! Awesome colors, I was just about like everyone else when you were describing what colors everything was going to be, but the color combos really turned out awesome. I was going to ask about that slatwall.

Anyone know if that is compatible with any of the Gladiator GarageWorks stuff? Is the slatwall more universal or is the Gladiator stuff more universal? I plan on getting some Gladiator stuff, but also saw that little mini display at Menards. At first I was hoping I could use the slatwall in place of the Gladiator Gear Track stuff, especially since the cost would be better if trying to cover the wall. Some of the more basic colors are even cheaper than $65/sheet.

I do like the gladiator slatwall stuff. However, It was out of my budget.

Secondly, I figured the normal size slatwall would have more options for obtaining hooks, pegs, and baskets.

I found all that stuff easy and cheap. Its used in many stores across the country so finding things like that is easy.

I bought 100 of 8", 6" and 3" pegs for $45.00 They are powdercoated black. SWEET

When it came to specialty hooks I ordered them from diamondlife and was real happy with them as well

I ordered them all from Grainger.

I ordered so many I got them for about $5 each.

Of course that was 3 years ago.

The "collection" of hardware started years and years ago.

Remember the stores called "HANDY ANDY?"

I worked at one when I was in high school and somewhat thru my college years. Anyway, when the stores where going thru bankruptcy that had liquidation companies getting rid of all the stores inventory.

I bought the entire "hardware" isle for $200..............

Now, Ive gone thru alot of it but I still have alot left. Ive also assembled quite a bit more over the last 15 years or so.

I will post more pixs in this thread in the upcoming weeks

I also had these delivered too.

One is a standup fridge, the other a freezer. We wanted this to avoid traffic running in and out of the house.

They sent me the wrong hinge for the fridge, so its gonna get swapped out. I wanted the handles to be right next to each other. They sent me two left hand hinge units. No biggee for now.

Im getting close to completing this project.

My friend owns the business so the price was real nice.

As for the Seville benches I plan on leaving it stainless. I only did the tall storage cabinets because they where old, and had an ugly brown finish on em.

The stainless on the seville's go well with the fridge/freezer and the little diamond plate I have.

I do think in the future I will add the same top to the benchs as I did to my countertops.

Managed to get the top doors installed. Doing the bottoms this week, along with all door handles.

Over next weekend Im installing the light fixtures and tv.

Then this project is OVAHHHH!

TONE, Haven't you heard... you're never done with the garage project. There will always be the next cool tool that we gotta have, or the next post that has something that we never though of, or Jack out does himself again... The garage is a work in motion.

I love the S.S. fridge and freezer. Nice touch, but out of my budget. Now all we need is a picture of the stash you have IN the fridge and freezer... Is it man-cave stuff, or an extension of the home goods?

Yeah, I know youre telling the truth. The garage will always have little things added/changed.

Im just getting close to somewhat finishing it as I had planned 9 months ago. Kinda reaching my goal type of thing.

As for the fridge/freezer units, yes they are an extention of the house but they come in handy having in the garage.

Unfortunately, this house just simply isnt the type of home that can have a garage or workshop be just that. I had to incorporate the space and fit our needs.

Things like toy storage, lawn equipment, and now the extra household fridge/freezer.

For us it works great. And Im glad Ive taken on this project.
