I moved to the US from The Netherlands some 15 years ago before I ended up living in the hometown of the Falcons, so am not as "Southern" as some of my neighbours ;-)
Have been lurking around here for the past few months in anticipation of starting my own garage build that is somewhere mid-way the planning/preparation stage...
- Have a google sketchup plan (attached)
- Had a dying tree that was growing through my deck taken out while that spot can still be reached by a crane.
- Bought property from neighbor to re-locate septic field lines to.
- Septic company is in process of getting permit from the health department and then perform work to move my field lines (which are where the garage needs to be) to the newly acquired piece of land across the private road.
- Submit application for set-back variance - even with septic field lines out of the way, I still need a variance to the side and front yard setbacks for my project.
- Interview and get preliminary quotes from builders.
- Convince the Mrs. that this is a really good idea
Onwards and upwards... look forward to learning, sharing and bouncing ideas off Y'all.
