Recently received some invaluable advice here regarding the purchase of a vise. VERY grateful. Seems like a good group of folks.
I'm in StL and took lockdown as an opportunity to put together a small machine shop in my Father's garage. Kinda lookin' over him so I'm here more than I'm not.
Machines include:
Seig X2D mini mill clone (Klutch)
6" Atlas lathe
10" Atlas lathe
Grizzly Micro lathe
Baby Sanford surface grinder
Same HF bandsaw e'rone has
50's (I think) Craftsman vertical BS
Various grinders (1 old block grinder)
Jet No 2 arbor press
HF 20lb blaster
27gal compressor
Wen drill press
Delta drill press
Various Kennedy and Test Rite boxes
Columbian 504
And my most recent acquisition thanks to y'all, one of the earliest Wilton No 4 fish hook logo vises
ISO:
Surface plate
Height gauge
Depth mic
Sheet metal tools; shear, roller, brake, hammers, english wheel
Plasma cutter
A good MIG/flux core unit
Mini knee mill (if such a thing exists)
I work for the Kemp Foundation @ Kemp Lake. We take wounded Veterans and First Responders on guided fishing and hunting trips. I'm the fishing guy (love shooting, killing not so much). We also have events for underprivileged children and folks who couldn't or wouldn't otherwise get out and enjoy the beauty of nature. It's located on a 200acre farm in Bourbon MO, an arrow shot off old Hwy Route 66. Yes, I have my dream job. Best of all the folks who run it are quality ppl. I say I won the lottery of employment, I really have.
PSI have a good line on metal and consumables here in town. If'n yer from StL ya may know about it but if anyone is in need of cutters or shippable metal stock at a good price lemme know. I'm not in business just wanna help out considering I wouldn't have scored this Wilton without y'all.
Thanks again!
