Ok so I overpaid for my first tools here in Europe because I needed something in the house fast I only brought a husky pro stubby ratcheting set with me. Thing is I cant find out anything about what I have. Is it a good first set to give my stepson or should I keep it and try to piece it all back together? Its a Heyco 89-0-M West German Mark and I cant find any info on it anywhere. 1/2 drive 12pt along with combo wrenches. Its in decent usable shape but cosmetically off, anything that was lost or damaged to bad was already replaced but with Hazet or Stahlwille stuff except for the ratchet its Elora. Is this some tech set for BMW or just a lost bit of Heyco history that isnt worth anything to a collector? If its just good tools my stepson gets it and I dont have any work to do looking for all the matching stuff lol.

That looks like a pretty cool old set.
What's the story with the large sockets on left side? They all look like they're the same size?

I don't know if anybody is collecting Heyco.
I know they produce a lot of tool kit tools.
I think they are not as highly regarded as Stahlwille and Hazet. Maybe one step below.
But still really nice tools.
The Heyco Maxline 410 series combination wrenches are SWEEEEET

Heyco is one of the top German brands, but not as well known like Hazet, Gedore or Stahlwille.

The ratchet is not Heyco, looks like WGB ?!?

Here in Germany Heyco has a very good reputation among tool addicts.

They did alot of stuff for BMW and that stuff pulls a premium here thats what Im trying to find out since no info shows up anywhere on this set.

The sockets are just a camera angle thing on the left is 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 32,
13 is missing, 18 doubled, 10 is 6 kant Stahlwille, 17 is 6 kant Gedore, 19 is Stahlwille on the combos 13 & 24 Stahlwille, 14 Hazet, So other than the ratchet somebody cared enough to put good gear back in and I cant fault the ratchet for anything yet Its just not one of the Well knowns

Sorry the ratchet is Format F31155ebay auction said Elora and I honestly never checked lol, 40 tooth has a female 1/2 square drive on the top and seems pretty tough but I use my 916SP for most everything so far simply because the 954N is alot easier to lug around than this set with all the combos and the steel box

Sorry dont have any snap ring pliers to take it apart but here is the outside

If anyone knows why you would need a semi pass through on the back Id love to know, I still dont know anything about this ratchet since I didnt really know I had it until last night Ha
I rechecked and its 32 position or 11.25 degree (had tv and kids screaming during the first count and made a guess at 40)

Elora has this accessory in their catalog.

It would allow you to put 2 different sized sockets on one ratchet to save a little time in some situations.
I can't imagine what else you could do with it.:dunno:
Or you could use a breaker bar with it like you show in your picture with the breaker bar as a spinner but it's on the borderline of being too tight to spin, so you use the ratchet to help it along.

I have no clue who manufactured that ratchet, btw.

This ratchet was also formerly by WGB, Stubai and ISI, who is the original manufacturer…..I can not say.

In my business we use combination stepped keys, for the installation and removal of radiator valves.

I ruled out two sockets at once idea because it would cover the drive selector. The step key bit Ive seen in stores and wondered wth they were for and I bet thats what they had in mind on the ratchet. Thanx for all the info guys. Now if I can find somebody that knows anything about the set or how to find a Heyco archive

Blöckw@rt are keys all you use the dowidat for or do you use a pass through on it too? If so how easy is it to switch sides? Is the added strength and fewer parts to break worth losing a selector

I use the Dowidat ratchet only with the combination stepped key.

To switch the sides with a normal socket is not really comfortable, the only advantage is that this type of ratchet is very robust.

"Format" is sold through tool wholesalers/tool stores. The brand is owned by a tool wholesale group.

Wisdom again! Dammit Monte what cant you find out in a moments notice? Hey help me scope some info on this Heyco set I should have just pm'd you earlier you seem to have the scope on all tools Europe. I have seen posts in the past on here by Heyco reps but cant find them in any search now to ask them. My German is nowhere good enough to spend pay phone money on a research call to Heyco. Hold Hold...We dont have a real phone yet. But --We are in NRW so a squeeze in road trip stop would be cheaper. If that happens and theyll let me take pics. Tool ****

with the help of Blöckw@rt and after doing some homework,
I also found that Walter also has this ratchet.

This brand Format is not very well known, apparently. But you can still see this brand for sale

I did find a Format brand 3/4" ratchet for sale

https://www.ace-technik.de/umschaltknarre-3-4575mm-format.2081109.html#&slider2=2

Im on an air card and it refused to let me open the link (Video or just sh** luck) but I am on the serious lookout for a reasonable 3/4 set here and all my research so far suggests stalhwille for the ratchet so thats where Im looking but the draper expert set with extendable arm unless someone talks me out of it its cheaper new than a 30yo hex hazet set "ebay ticker for now" fingers crossed but for big stuff I like 12 pt
