Heyco sockets are quite nice. Reasonable quality, and if I remember correctly, a nice polished chrome finish, which is a little unusual for German tools.

Heyco specialise in making tools for manufacturer supplied toolkits, so they tend not to be marketed well (at least not in the U.K.) which is a shame as they make some very nice stuff, such as their combination wrenches, and their screwdrivers with the clear green handles. (A set of the latter are on my 'wish list')!

Be a bit wary though, of late they have been pushing their budget 'Heytec' line, which is of course very average Taiwanese stuff.

Wasn't aware of any connection between Wiha and Heyco, maybe Wiha are distributing them in the U.S. or something?

P.S. If anybody more knowledgable then myself regarding German tools reads this (Monte?) can I chuck in a query too?

Are those Heyco screwdrivers with the green transparent handles still available?

I always assumed Heyco were the manufacturer of these, but Bernstein used to sell a similar pattern with yellow handles. Did Heyco make for Bernstein, or did someone else (Witte maybe?) make for both.

What Heyco is probably best known for are those plastic strain reliefs that retain electrical power cords into devices of all kinds They have so much if the market that they are usually referred to as heycos, even if they are some other brand.

Came across some heyco and heynen wrenches in the community toolbox at work, both made in Germany, they have a nice satin finish, they look almost identical, some were combination wrenches and some were double open end.

What struck me was how slim the wrenches were, not as thin as say Capri or V8 wrenches, but thinner than the run of mill wrenches I have touched

I was wondering if anybody has pics of the Wiha-Heyco modern wrenches

https://www.wihatools.ca/open-end-wrenches-metric-7pc-set

From the pics the middle looks to be satin but the ends polished, the ones at work are full satin, stamped either Heyco or Heynen and are stamped Germany

Thanks for the picture

Next time I am at work I will get some pics

No problem.

I'll add that they are thin, I believe they are designed that way and the main reason I bought them. Great for suspension work.

And I'm not sure what you meant by "modern". Mine are about 10 years old

Guess I was trying to say recent purchase, if yours are 10 years old and match the pics on the website, then the ones at my work are much older than that

Nonetheless a nice wrench

Not sure why they bother. Less and less people work on their cars nowadays and the manufacturers are aiding in that

I'm not sure how long ago they made the change from satin to polished faces, but the Heynen open end wrenches I've seen are full satin finish. Heyco produces good stuff.

Took some pics today at work

I stand corrected the Heyco's are satin in the middle and chrome on the ends, also says W. Germany

No name, W. Germany

Comparing to a Proto 12x13, which I feel like is a slim wrench

Proto 12x13 vs Heynen 12mm combination, comparing 12 vs 12

Yep, that lines up with what I thought. Heyco = polished faces, Heynen = full satin.

W. Germany means they're pre 1990

Nice wrenches

Heyco is quality, period. Often overlooked. They work to as tight tolerances as Stahlwille, Hazet and Gedore. Quite a niche brand that has its own appeal, expensive though ... I also think their 'import' brand Heytec stands out over Vigor (Hazet) and Carolus, now Gedore Red (Gedore).
I have some Heyco 3/8 metric sockets and they are top notch quality. Unusually for German tool makers, they usually go for the full polish which is probably their only negative imo. Check out their latest ratchets, green/black colourway, 2-component handle, satin chrome finish. Lets not forget Elora (lot of love for Elora) and Matador (very nice). Also cheaper German stuff from the likes of Famex and SW-Stahl.
post script- i have no idea what the connection between Heyco and Wiha is!

My BMWs from the 80s to the mid 2000s came with HEYCO tools, the wrenches are thin and have a very nice finish
