The Wiha "Industrial" wrenches and sockets sold in the USA are made by Heyco, and I believe branded as Heyco as well. The wrenches are supposedly good quality, but I have no personal experience with them.

I do and I've been very disappointed with a Wiha double offset box wrench which I bought for big bucks. The thing didn't even have the right bend in it. The Germans make good stuff but this brand is not an example of their best efforts.

I think they specialise in making tools for others (tool kits supplied with cars for example) so in this case the quality will be whatever the customer specifies, and pays for!

I've seen a couple of Heyco wrenches and they were really nice (beautiful chrome) but I've seen others that were nothing special, so not sure what goes on. Remember seeing some lovely screwdrivers years back with green acetate hard handles, but nothing since.

Think they were imported into the u.k. a while back, but it isn't really a common brand at the moment, so I havn't really seen enough to be able to form an opinion, certainly not of their current quality.

Monte would probably be the man to tell you more!

Correct, I have a few double box wrenches and they are excellent quality good finish, excellent broaching and good fit and feel. Yes they are used in many tool kits for BMW, Mercedes, etc. They have been in bden in business for over 90 years. I would rate them with Gedore and a step down from Stahlwille and Hazet

I have a set of Wiha/Heyco wrenches and they are pretty good. They have a nice feel similar to Gedore and other German wrenches. They are not finished as well as many other wrenches. For the money, I would rather have many other brands. The Wiha set I have lists for about 200+. I bought it for about 75. I would not be happy if I had paid that much. Wright, S-K, BluePoint are all better.

Hmm!

Checked out the website. The polished chrome wrenches I remember seeing appear to be long gone. I've seen the ones they currently offer and they are nothing special.

Seems they still offer the screwdrivers with the green acetate handles. If these are as good as they were I wouldn't mind acquiring a few, especially the Pozidriv.

No idea where to obtain this stuff though, and the website offers no suggestions either!

Those Maxline combo wrenches look good, kind of like a cross between a Stahlwille and and a US made Wright.

Monte - spot on as usual!

Those were the wrenches I was talking about when I said I'd seen some really nice ones! Are they still available? I looked at their website but could only find a different style with a much rougher chrome!

Is there a decent online source for a Heyco?

I see that the drivers with the green acetate handles are still in their catalogue and wouldn't mind a couple!

Thanks Monte!

I didn't spot those in the catalogue, hidden away among all the others!

I could probably have found them if I'd known they were ''Maxline'!

Any ideas for the other stuff such as the screwdrivers?

I couldn´t find online shops in the UK nor over here.... sometimes you see Heytec tools so the shop might be able to order Heyco too....i would email Heyco and ask if they have a distributor in the UK.

Any opinion on Heyco tools?

Coach

First job I ever had was a machine setup/repair gig and they gave us Heyco open end wrenches, wish I'd just let them keep my deposit and kept them, they stood up to an astounding amount of abuse.
