Just got my little stubbies with swivel heads. Not too bad for $8. Ratchet mechanism is a bit tight and can't see how they come apart. Any ideas how to lub it up to make it quieter and less binding? Little oil in through the socket release?

I do not think there is a way to disassemble without destroying on these HF swivel ratchets. I bought the 1/2" version and just used some gun lube (Breakfree) oil around the edge and let it migrate in. I do not think much oil administered around the release button will get to the pawl action.

Let it sit in a can of your favorite oil? That's what I did with my Blue Point ratcheting wrench that I found in the dirt. Cleaned it up, let it sit in some oil/ATF and it worked good.

Did nothing to mine, just used it. The stubby fat handle with swivel head is a very convenient design. Whatever you dip it in, I would not get any on the rubber handle.

I've taken all my ratchets apart and greased them. I bought 3-of these cute little things for the basement tool box, garage tool box, and boat tool box. First ratchets I've seen that don't come apart, but the first Chinese ratchets I've owned. Thanks, going to try getting some oil through the crack. Still think grease would make the mechanisim smoother. Why can't they do that when they assemble the dang things!
