I have a need for a larger miter saw for about 2 dozen cuts on some 8" baseboard trim, really don't want to spend a small fortune and just noticed this guy is on sale at HF. Does anyone own one and have a review ?

Understanding I'll need to pick up a decent blade and spend some time setting it up to cut square it looks like it will do what I want without breaking the bank.

i had one as a backup for work cutting laminate and wood floors. i throw their table saw around on the daily, its not a bad piece. i didnt want to put money in a saw that sits in the back of the truck it does fine.

as for the miter saw it doesnt like to cut 2 or 3 starter boards at a time like my dewalt will.
for the money you cant go wrong. its half the price of other store brand saws.

The Dewalt non-sliding 12" miter saw looks to be only about $25 more expensive.

...oh heck, it looks like a 12" non-slider will only do a 7.5" cut. Never mind.

On sale now for $139.00 --- I picked one up to cut baseboards (cheaper than renting from HD) - got it set up - made a few test cuts and went to work. I chose it because it because it tilts both left and right simplifying the miter cuts. Works fine for what I've done so far.

I bought one to cut about three hundred landscape timbers...

It did that, and all the stuff for my workbench...

And all the wood for my neighbor's deck...

It's still on the original blade...

And...

It still looks new...

And it's on sale for $ 139.99, which is what I paid for mine, two years ago...

How come you haven't bought one, yet???

i bought one for $80 to cut the siding for our house and to cut the 2x6's for a shed we were putting up. I thought that if it lasted for them two jobs i got my money out of it. Well, that has been about 8 yrs ago and since then I have used the **** out of it for several other building projects and all the trim in our house. So it has been better than expected although for trim, you have to be a little careful, its not the most accurate thing in the world but not terrible either. Mine is an older model and it looks like the new ones could be much better.

I haven't really heard anything bad about them. I would go ahead and get it for just such a small project and you may use it more in the future.
