I have a similar Craftsman chest, but I don't like the tall narrow chest or the cheap slides.

My next one is this HF cabinet:

You might want to look at the Masterforce boxes at Menards. I'm pretty sure you can get a 56in special order for much cheaper. I have been very impressed with my 41in, and now I'm thinking about picking up the 56 to replace my 41in work box so I can have a 41 at home. If you can live with the color.

Does any one know if you can put the side cabinet on this lower box? I know the finish will be different, I don't care. I would like to have a small work cabinet and have the smaller box. I guess I could go into my local store and ask if I can try it out.

Before some one points it out, yes I will put something under the cabinet as it will likely throw the box off balance.

i did my research on the box and yes. it will work. its like it's made for it. and i wouldn't worry about the counterbalancing. the weight distribution wont exceed the fulcrum point as long as you have them proportionally weighed down.

just put the bulkier items in the bottom of the toolbox, ;)

Mitch you might want to take the drawers out and mess with the detents for the ones that stick out too much. When the craze for the 41" went up on here several had issues with the drawers being too hard to shut. Many adjusted the detents and it solved their problems. It may be the same issue you're having.

hmm. idk what a detent is but i will def look into the drawer setup when i have time. i've been spending the past 4 months basically working on cleaning out the garage at my house. and still have some wiring that needs to be done before i'll be able to make time to play with my box. :(

Excellent, it looked and measured like it would fit at the store but I wasn't sure. I'll probably throw some old phone books under the cabinet just to be on the safe side.
