The Super Duty claims to have “premium high quality piston seals.” Did HiBall or anyone else ever determine if it has u cup seals? Thanks.
I think I recall it doesn't have U cups, but a similar jack under a different name did. I forget which brand.

I rolled out the old central hydraulics “orange monster” to raise the pick up truck to put on jack stands

Granted, I had to crank the handle a bit harder than normal to get it sealed, but otherwise it raised and held fine

It’s almost 20 years old the only reason I purchased another one because I needed a low profile. Then I purchased the excellent small aluminum jack that I could just grab and go.

These jacks are fine

Drive by your local tire shops and independent mechanics and I bet you see at least 1 or 2 of these jacks in use. They are great jacks, and even better for homeowners. I have one of these and one of the 1-1/2 ton aluminum jacks in the garage and I love them.
^^^This.

ALL of the tire shops in my area use them.
The guy I go two has at least 12 of them (I counted the last time I was there, lol). They're easy to spot because of their distinctive colors.

One of my vehicles is a floor hugging Lexus. A real PITA with my current floor jack.

Only you know what you drive/work on. The low profile IMHO, wouldn't be worth it if all you deal with are factory or lifted trucks. Same with the superduty to professional. Look at the specs, lift height differences, that fit your needs.

My best friend owns a successful bodyshop.
I stop by for coffee a few times a week and nose around.
He has four of the Daytona and two Snap-On floor jacks.
I routinely see his guys using the Daytonas as much or more than the Snap-On ones.

The thing about them in shop use is you can buy a few for what the big name brand one costs and when they break they've already paid for themselves so they can get chucked in the scrap pile and get another.

Exactly; makes perfect sense, especially for a small business.

This (quoted below) is what Hiball wrote after doing a teardown. tldr, it does have ucups on the pump cylinders but not on the main ram. I believe it's the same as the Snap-on FJ300, the one the lawsuit was over. It also has magnets for filtration and also doesn't have a ucup on the main ram, for ~$700-800 more.

uses the same hydraulic core unit as the regular 3 ton unit, the only differences are 2 magnets thrown in the reservoir and the pump cylinders utilize Ucups versus Oring/backup and some different frame work, Oh.... And it’s Yellow. Lol

I do have concerns with the cartridge valve system, and even with the small sample size of GJ I have fielded no less than 10 emails/pm’s regarding missed strokes and poor performance, both are by products of Air entering the valve system. The Oring/shell on the Main Ram is a blatant attempt for HF to limit the longevity of the jack, Why go to extremes to market it as a professional jack and then skimp (pennies) on the Main Ram seal.. Silly.

I am getting 3T too but over $100 difference between Professional and SuperDuty. Is SuperDuty worth it for occasional DIY use?

The SuperDuty has a little bit better internals (see above), which is why HF saw fit to give it a 3 year warranty, vs a 90 day warranty for all of their other jacks. The SuperDuty also has larger casters, that are greasable, and is just a larger and more heavily built jack but it rolls and maneuvers a little easier thanks to the larger casters. Does any of that make it more worth the price difference for you? Only you can decide that.

I have reviewed the same discussions I started here 5+ years ago. Forgot all about that. Hiball mentioned three floor jacks with u cup seal systems. One was the Torin JackBoss sold by Tractor Supply. It sells for around $330 now. If I were inclined to reach for the Daytona SuperDuty, I would cough up a little more and get the Torin. Hiball also said you must pay attention to the surface finish. U cups don‘t help much if you have rough finishes.
