HF 3 ton floor jack

There are some mixed reviews on these so thought I would see if anyone actually uses one. It is the oranged colored one. I got an email with a coupon for 49.99. Guess it wouldn't be to much of a risk.

I have always heard good things about their jackstands. I have a 2 1/4 ton version, also orange. I just used it for the first time a few days ago and was happy with it, but you MUST buy at least one pair of adequate jack stands to go with it. Do not rely on the floor jack alone, especially when you'll be getting under the car for repairs and inspections. It is designed for jacking up the car, not supporting it while work is being done. (I did not know this myself for a long time because people I know always used the floor jack alone, so I thought it was normal...)

Thanks for pointing that out Ben. I actually looked at some jack stands last weekend on sale at sears. My dad said he doesn't trust them. Not sure why, but I guess anything can happen. I would probably feel more comfortable with jack stands. No place for a lift and don't see it in the near future either.

I have it. Great little jack. Its heavy as hell (probably weighs 3 tons!) but hasnt done me wrong in 2 years.

Just to make this clear for anyone else reading along: this is true of all jacks, HF or not. If you're under the car, it must have jackstands supporting it.

I evangelize this rule in the paddock at races all the time. People getting hurt or dying because a car fell on them is just dumb.

i thought about getting it but i already have a sears 3 ton similar in design to the hft one.

I just picked up the 2 ton low profile jack http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-low-profile-floor-service-jack-67022.html for 59.99 w/ an email coupon.

I favored this one over the 3 ton b/c it seems this one doesn't have the lowering 'issue,' that the 3 ton jack has.

Same here...the release to lower the vehicle can be a bit sticky/touchy at times, but it has never let me down.

I have the 3 ton orange jack. I've had it for almost three years and have no issues with leak down or anything. It's a beast and is heavy as hell. I've used it to lift something as small as a Dodge Neon to my 07 GMC Sierra and my now sold 81 GMC long bed fullsize. I have two complaints if you can really call it that. The first is that it takes a lot of pumps to put a vehicle up. It's really no big deal because I'm not a pro jack man and I'm never in a rush. My second complaint is when you lower the vehicle. You have to have finesse in turning the handle to let the vehicle down easy. Otherwise it's coming down fast. I've got it now where I can lower all vehicles easily so it's no longer an issue.

I also have and use the orange 3 ton and 6 ton jack stands with no issues. Hope this info helps ya'll who are interested in the jack or stands.
