Has anyone ever used one of these shop fans. Item # is 47755 and is listed at $99.99 with coupon. I need a couple of fans, but was not sure of their quality. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Don

you have 90 days to return it. buy one, review it during that time, tell us how you like it or don't.

Probably not any better or worse than what you'd get for $99~199 at HD or Lowes. They all have motors and blades that almost look like they came from the same factory LOL.

I assume you're referring to the HF model, which I think is very similar to the Northern Tool model which I bought last summer. My wife wanted a BIGGER fan for in the house, so I obliged. It moves a lot of air but is very noisy. We used similar fans in a machine shop were I worked with roll-up doors open and 20-30 large mills/lathes running, the fan noise was not a problem. The fan now resides in my garage/shop however I have yet to use it, perhaps later in the summer with the door open blowing out. We have a smaller plastic import from Costco in the house, and needless to say I wasn't consulted prior to the purchase:)

Have you checked Craigslist? I found one for almost nothing.

We got a HF unit at work and it lasted 3 years with continous daily use (bent a blade when accidentally knocked over while running). It should serve you well in a home shop setting.

+1. Ive bought big barn fans for less than $100, so not sure Id spend that much on a lil fan like that. Id bet on Craigs I could find a similar size fan for <$20 without leaving town.

If it's noisy, I wonder if they would let the OP plug it in at the store to see how it works ? It would be worth asking.

Get yourself an old attic fan off of CL and build one of these.......

Works great and I only have $150 in the whole thing.

Found this motor/fan unit at a garage sale a few years back for <$5, added some scrap pellet wood and shazam had a shop fan (not child or pet friendly).

And found these box fans at about $10 for both added a filter and mounting bracket.
