Yep, you just have to remove the latches from one to fit in the other (I can't remember which) as the lock tabs are different. Then drill out the rivets on the extra slides to remove them.

Your probably thinking of my box. To answer your question yes however the drawers you swap will not lock without some modifications. First you have to remove one set of slides from the bottom chest to put in the top chest. Then you need to remove the locking latches in the back of the shallow drawers. After this is done the mods are pretty self explanatory to making the locking system to work on those drawers.

make sure you measure your drawers, after seeing Link's box I was going to do this as well, but as I was test fitting the drawers I seem to recall the bottom drawers maybe go 1/4" or so deeper in. Anyway, check them before you pull slides.

Yes looks like it came out of the box that way and yes reverse by just undoing what you did.

My drawers lined up perfectly. Here is what I Did. First I removed the two lowest long shallow drawers in the bottom box. Then the deep drawer in the top box, took a good look at what I was working with luckily there are already mounting holes in the top box for the extra slides. I went back to the bottom box drilled the rivets out of the lowest exposed slides and moved them to the top box and riveted them back in. Then on the two shallow drawers I drilled out the rivits for the locking tab and removed them. Drilled out the spot welds on the locking brackets on the deep drawer and tabbed up a second set out of some thin flat strap got my measurements and spot weldeded the brackets to the shallow drawers
and WALA little touch up paint and the top box locks all drawers. Deep drawer got my measurements drills a hole for my jig saw to fit cut the hole square and riveted the locking latch in again little touch up paint and good as new lock works. When getting you measurements for the deep drawer lock measure from the bottom of the shallow drawer to the center of hole then transfer that measurement to the deep drawer. If you place the locking tab in the center it won't work.

Not to jack the thread. But I have the same upper and lower box (which I'm very happy with). But what exactly are you gaining but moving the drawers around? Is there a benefit that I'm not seeing? Not trying to step on any ones toes, or start a huge debate, just curious.

I swapped them around just out of habbit of where I like to keep certain tools. I like the larger drawers at the bottom of my box for air tool, corded and cordless battery powered tools plus speciality tools in blow mold cases. Ilike my sockets in the top, ratchets in the first long drawer, extentions first narrow drawer, screwdrivers in the second long drawer, precision screwdrivers, bit drivers, picks and such in the second narrow drawer, pliers third long drawer, snap ring and locking pliers third narrow drawer, ASE combo + ratcheting wrenches fourth long drawer, ASE offset boxed end, ignition, allen wrenches fourth narrow drawer, the fith set of drawers is the same except metric. That's just how I like my top box.

Yeah, always has been even in the old finish. They have side boxes and lockers too. There all on there sight.

I wish I could find a side box for mine. Mines that flat red . I bought it used, Im always searching cl for a used one.
