I have some questions that the people at my local hf can't answer about these boxes. My big one is what is the capacity of the drawers? I am assuming 100 lb per drawer but would like to know. Also can the drawers be moved around and rearranged? Thanks

The previous generation HF 44" box had, I believe, 88lb rated drawer slides. I did notice that the Series 2 boxes have omitted the drawer weight ratings off of the decal on the back. Maybe the manual has that information. It should be available online.

No real accurate ratings on any of the current HF boxes.
40lb a set on the 44" as awfully low, Husky for example has 100 to 120lb a set on the better 22" and 24" boxes .
No idea if current 44" has multi position pre punched slots like older model, possibly not if 22" version box production only for HF and costs cutting at every cent .
HF need add way better spec details on slides and metal gauge and only reason I can see for omitting it is the figures not that appealing :)
In my opinion some of the masteforce, homak rs pro and husky 19gauge boxes a better low cost box .

I find it hard to believe the ratings could be that low. Very few people would have tools so light they would not overload that.

But the ad says it beats snap on in all the categories...

I do not see where you are seeing that, it is not listed in the article or on Harbor Freights webpage for that tool box. NOWHERE in the ad on https://toolguyd.com/harbor-freight-us-general-series-2-tool-boxes/ does it even mention Snap-On!

It does say however; when you click on "Compare to $2,605.00, Snap-on KRA4813FPBO" on HF webpage for the 44 inch tool box, it takes you this this explanation:
"WHAT DOES "COMPARE SIMILAR"/"COMPARE" MEAN?"

"At Harbor Freight Tools, unless otherwise specified, the "Compare Similar" or "Compare" price means that the same item or a similar functioning item was advertised for sale at or above the "Compare Similar" or "Compare" price by another retailer in the U.S. within the past 90 days. Prices advertised by others may vary by location. The comparison price may not reflect the prevailing market price or the average retail price. No other meaning of "Compare Similar" or "Compare" should be implied."

So the only thing being "compared" is the price of an item with a similar function (i.e., a toolbox with 13 drawers), NOT THE SPECS.

It may claim 100lbs but throwing two sets of impacts (the big 40 to 50 piece boxes) really strained the 56" black crinckle finish box i almost bought. The soft close was non-existant and the middle of the drawer sagged noticeably. Throwing the similar sets into my 56" HF boxes main drawer didnt have thr same effect.

Here is a link to the older 44 inch tool box, if any one is interested: https://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/68000-68999/68784.pdf

I forgot there were at least two different model numbers for these toolboxes, so the other one, model 69387, is below. The first link is to model number 68784.

https://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/69000-69999/69387.pdf

Drawer weights for the both models are listed in the pictures below.

Although I find it curious why HF doesn't list the weight capacity in the listings and manuals for the newer versions, their older models listed weight capacities were ridiculously low compared to what they routinely did actually hold by many if not most of their owners. Always seemed odd to me why, since so many of their claims about so many of their other products seem pretty outlandish compared to actual use.

MechanicNamedJohn was a good example of that.

I posted this pic in another thread here.

I just want to add it to my thread also; to show the strength of the US General boxes.

I weigh at least 220lbs, plus I would safely assume there is also a 100lbs of tools in the drawer.

Hmm - depends on your definition of 'COMPARE' is - is.

I had 3 of the 44" from the first introduction of the glossy paint. One of them the top drawer was FULL of impact sockets, the other was FULL of chrome sockets. Like stacks on stacks, the ones that didn't fit in the trays were sitting between the sockets that did. This is 3/8 & 1/2 in HF trays, 3/4 & 1" laying horizontally wherever space would let them. Both, SAE & metric. Had no issue opening and closing either of the drawers. I'm sure there was some sag but it didn't affect movement across the whole range of motion. I can tell you from experience the drawer slides in the older 44 were much more capable than their paperwork. I hope the new ones are similarly under reported.
