I’ve got the complete 44” (older 18” deep) system with top and two sides. Now that I have my HF settlement cards, I’m buying another bottom cabinet to turn into a purtable bench in my garage.
Original plan was to put the new 22” deep under the old top and hang the side cabinets on it sliding them forward for a flush fit. Box is up against the wall, no big deal with the gaps at the back.

Now I’m starting to think I would be better off turning the deeper chest into the work bench. More storage for my miscellaneous **** and tools, sanding belts, sandpaper and shop rags. Besides, wouldn’t have to transfer all the tools between boxes.

Thoughts?

Going to order a 60” X 24” butcher block top from Global. I guess the wider footprint would be much more stable. Planning on only having about 1/4” at most overhang on the drawer side.

The butcher block top will be nice. I would definitely use the 22" for the bench. I have the 18" boxes which I bought just before HF came out with the 22" boxes. If I had known, I would have waited and got the bigger boxes.

I would have 3/4 to an inch on the front, protects the box, reduces dirt in drawers and can be used for clamps

Got a few, need to take more. Hopefully the welding of the frame will be done by this weekend and I can start getting price quotes for powder coating. Once done I'll put together a thread.
